Il losco ingegner Fabio Detassis ha ideato uno stratagemma per rinviare il processo in cui è coinvolto: sorprendere Enrico Paci, il giudice incaricato del processo, in compagnia di Giovanna, una donna che l'ingegnere fa passare per sua moglie. Riuscito nel suo intento Detassis parte per una vacanza in India con il figlio e la vera moglie e casualmente si trova a soggiornare nello stesso albergo del giudice Paci. Detassis è così costretto a continuare la finzione iniziata a Roma con esiti tragicomici.
